’ I will wrap you in my arms ‘
The wind rushed around him as his feet moved quickly on the ground. If anyone was to see him, well, they would only just be able to see him. As he raced along, Jasper felt the wind moving his hair from around his face, blowing it around. For normal people, that would be a problem. Worrying about your hair was such a human trait, a ridiculous nature. He didn't understand why they did it, males and females. Back from the time when he was born and ‘alive’ no one ever had fussed about such things. One would just walk out from their houses looking like they did after waking up and brushing their hair, not even that sometimes. Jasper had never been one to worry about such trivial things as hair and appearance. But 126 or so years later, the human race was worrying about things that seemed silly to worry about. Such a weird concept in his eyes, but after all, he wouldn’t have to worry about such things himself. Not when he was already ‘perfect’ in his beautiful appearance. Just like every other vampire that was created on this planet. Perfection was bliss.
But for humans, they had no idea of what was living around them in this small town. There were the vampires. Cold, pale and distant from the rest of the society. Of course, him and his family attended school and had jobs, not wanting to make everyone have a reason to believe that they were different. But there were still the odd hints laying around for them to pick up on. The pale skin, the strange coloured eyes that were sometimes covered with contacts. But they were only subtle hints for them to pick up on. And so far they had done a good job. The only human to know or find out was Bella Swan, and that was Edward’s fault mainly. But that wasn’t that bad. Most humans didn’t know and just thought that the Cullen family was a naturally perfect family in appearances. Of course, vampires weren’t the only threat to Forks. There were werewolves residing here too. They called themselves the protectors, saying they would protect the humans from the vampires. Jasper knew that there were plenty of carnivorous vampires in the world, but there was no need for protecting in Forks. But the humans had no idea of the different species here.
Jasper snarled as the deer in front of him began to run, sensing that there was someone or something there. A natural instinct for animals, to run. His feet pounded on the ground, shaking the leaves and twigs, snapping them with loud cracks and snaps. The deer was no match for Jasper, and it would never be able to out-run him. Yet he liked to play a game with his prey. He allowed it to run from him, watching the terror in it’s eyes as it tried to escape from the monster that was chasing it. What it didn’t know was the fact that it would never be able to escape him and his blood lust. The space between Jasper and the deer got smaller until he pounced, grabbing the deer and pinning it to the floor. His teeth pierced the skin and sunk deep into the flesh as he took the blood from the animals body.

Wondering the forest of Forks was becoming... normal for Edward. An everyday thing. Not to hunt, just to wander, be alone. Although Viola wanted him home, he needed his alone time, and refused when Viola offered for her to come along. Yes, he loved Viola, but she knew whom his heart would always belong to. Bella Swan. Edward tried not to think of her too often; he and his family had made their decision to leave, four years ago, and there was no going changing that. Edward regretted the decision now, but he knew it was for the best. So Bella could live a happy, normal, human life. The years away from her had been the hardest of his entire existence, he wouldn't deny that. Everybody knew that, they didn't have to be able to read minds like himself to figure that out. Secretly, he wished to see her, and half of the reason he was wondering the forest was in hopes that she would be there. On a regular basis he wondered if she had a boyfriend, or anything like that. Secretly he hoped she hadn't moved on. It was BEST that she had, best that she had left her feelings for him behind. But he couldn't help but hope that she hadn't. Edward was pretty sure Bella was still oblivious to the Cullens' arrival. She probably wouldn't care, anyways. He should leave her alone... But Edward had snuck in her house a few times, and watched her sleep. He had already gotten use to her scent again. Edward sighed, catching the scent of Jasper and fresh blood.
That wasn't good, but it was probably the blood of an animal. But there was no way to be sure... Quickly, Edward rushed to the smell - instinctively - and came to a clearing where Jasper and a dead deer lay. His worries were irrelevant, Jasper wouldn't cheat on his diet. Edward sighed in relief, and sat by a tree. Jasper was out here, although Edward wanted company it was only polite to speak with him. "Jasper," he said in greeting, nodding his head and looking over at his adoptive brother. Jasper's inability to control his bloodlust and his past had always made Edward weary of the vampire. Slowly, Edward was beginning to trust him fully. Jasper was honest, and had plenty of Southern hospitality, and Edward liked that. Jasper was a good "brother", but Edward couldn't help but continuously read his thoughts for any signs of plans to stalk a human and kill them. You could say Edward didn't fully trust him.
The smell of the deer's blood made Edward's throat burn, he was realizing it was time for him to hunt. His eyes were noticeably dark, and it was always important to hunt greatly around the school year. Attacking a human in the middle of the lunch period - something he had nearly done before, except in Biology class - was definitely NOT a good thing. That's why he always read Jazz's mind. Edward sighed, his eyes scanning the clearing. He quickly looked back at Jasper, scanning his head as the deer was being drained. Disturbing a vampire while feeding wasn't a good thing, vampires usually became very defensive and protective over their catch at that time. Jasper could instinctively attack Edward, but oddly Edward wasn't worried. Jasper would easily win, him having great experience in fighting.

’ I will wrap you in my arms ‘
Jasper heard the sound of footsteps behind him and froze for a moment. He didn't move from the position he was in for a moment or two, but he finally did, getting to his feet fully. Although he was unable to see anyone at the moment, he could sense that it was a vampire that was nearby and not a wolf - seeing as the smell didn't repulse him like it normally would. Knowing that it was a vampire put Jasper more at ease as he guessed that it was probably a member of the Cullen family. Of course, there was always a possibility that he was wrong, as he didn't have the power that Alice or Edward did have. Knowing that there still could be a a potential threat to him Jasper remained upright, ready to arch his back and get into a defensive position if needed. Like most vampires, being disturbed from feeding was always a bad move to make but luckily he had just finished draining the animal from all the blood that it had in it's body. Still, he would attack whoever was there if he needed to, out of their nature and instincts. The smell of fresh blood still lingered into the air and Jasper knew that he would soon see the vampire behind the sound, knowing that most were attracted by the smell of blood.
After a while, he spotted Edward close-by, under a tree. Judging from the look on Edward's face, he wasn't entirely happy and Jasper felt the urge to use his ability to try and make the mood around here lighter. He resisted and watched as Edward spotted him and gave him a nod and a greeting. Jasper nodded back to him and remained standing by the dead deer for a few more moments, glad that the thirst was gone from inside him, his throat no longer burning. He knew that Edward was wary about him and his bloodlusts, seeing as he was the newest addition to the family along with Alice. Unlike him, Alice had no trouble in fitting in with the new lifestyle and it's requirements, but he had. His own bloodlust sometimes took over when around humans and Jasper remembered a few times when he had to resist the terrible urge. But he was lucky, having a family like the Cullen's who helped him when he needed it. In his mind, Edward had every right to be wary around him, afraid that he would ruin their secret of being immortal, making them have to flee from Washington and such. Although Edward was wary about him, Jasper often got the feel that the other Cullen's didn't feel that same wariness around him, like they fully trusted him. But he didn't blame Edward for the half-trust. Jasper knew he would be the same.
"Edward," Jasper replied walking to join Edward under the tree. They had only just moed back to Forks after moving away for a couple of weeks. No one knew that they were back as of yet, but Jasper knew that it was only a matter of time before they would be seen around town and Carlisle would have to return to work. He had no problem with coming back to Forks, where he had first found the Cullen family with Alice, but he knew that for Edward it would be different. Although Viola was with them now, Jasper knew that Bella would still have a place in Edward's heart. He didn't have to be able to read minds to know that much. Bella also didn't know that the Cullen's were back and he doubted highly that she had forgotten them. But Jasper was intrigued to know what might have happened in this town since they had left a few years back. Chances were Bella had found someone else. Either that or she had held onto Edward for all that time. But Jasper was going to let it all happen naturally, not wanting to intervene with something that was between Edward and Bella - not involving him at all.

As Jasper lifted his head, Edward knew the animal had been drained completely. Usually, not an ounce of blood was left after an animal had been fed upon. Vampires weren't "greedy", they just went on a frenzy when they tasted any kind of blood, especially humans'. That's why it is so hard to turn a human, why it was so hard for Carlisle to change Esme and everyone else, why it was so hard for Edward to suck the venom from Bella's blood years before. Almost everything reminded Edward of Bella, even the most random things. His mind simply couldn't be taken off the girl, no matter how much he tried to not think about her. Viola was sort of his now, although secretly he didn't want it. Viola knew about his feelings for Bella, yet she still claimed herself and Edward were mates. He wasn't sure if he agreed, only time would tell. Truthfully, he was warming up to her. But in no way would their relationship ever be anything like himself and Bella's was.
"Edward," Jasper responded, returning Edward's greeting. After this everything was always tense, and usually Jasper used his power to make things run smooth, which Edward appreciated. He had nothing against the Southern gentleman, really, just his bloodlust worried Edward to no end... A reason he was tense when Jazz was around Bella. Again - something reminded him of Bella. Why couldn't he stop thinking about her? Knowing she was only a mile or so away made him anxious to go see her. Alice was probably looking out of her, and so Alice would most likely see Edward with her sometime. Edward was definitely planning to go see her, no doubt, but it was when. If he showed up at the wrong time, that would be huge trouble. Ha, maybe she had befriended vampires' eternal enemies - werewolves. That would be simply hilarious, Edward wouldn't definitely call Bella a danger magnet. She must be attracted to mythical creatures. Werewolves were in La Push, but it would be awfully odd if somehow she had got in touch with one. Bella - she MUST have a thing for mythical creatures. Falling in love with one... perhaps befriending a few... But hopefully Bella's life was rid of those mutts, he wouldn't want them pestering her or such. They were annoying dogs.
Often, Edward got lost in his thoughts. He almost forgot to respond to Jasper, until he looked up at saw Jasper staring at him. Edward had almost forgot his presence. "Why are you hunting alone? I would have come along, with you, for I am quite thirsty myself. Have you drank your full? If not, I shall join you on the hunt, if you don't mind."' One measly deer wasn't usually enough for one vampire, if they were really hungry. Edward's personal favorite were mountain lions, but you didn't see those lurking around in Forks's forests. It would be great, if they did, Edward could have his favorite all the time. But it wouldn't be safe for La Push's or Forks's residents. At least Edward could go up hiking with the family and catch a few. That was a plus side. Emmett could get his grizzly bears, too, and everybody else could usually get their favorite also. Nobody was completely left out.
Reading Jasper's mind, he hard the names of "Bella" and "Viola". Was he thinking about that too? So Edward wasn't the only one who worried, or thought about her? Jasper was saying he wouldn't use his powers to make Bella love him, or anything, Edward nodded. Jasper was an honest man, and a fair one. He wouldn't cheat for anyone... Or influence relationships in a negative or positive way. He didn't influence relationships that didn't concern him, and he minded his own business. Jasper had many virtues, Edward knew, but still he was weary. Jasper was a good man, a great man, Edward knew that, and he probably knew that best. Edward usually didn't comment on others' thoughts, but he couldn't help but say something. "No, Jasper, please don't influence anybody's moods or feelings." Edward smiled, "Thank you." Surely Jasper knew what Edward was speaking of.

’ I will wrap you in my arms ‘
Jasper glanced back to the deer briefly and knew that he should move the body from in view from humans, so that they didn’t begin to panic about more bears and such. He had had enough of that from the last time. Of course, there had never been any bears or large animal in the forest, it had been three carnivorous vampires who were drinking the blood of humans. But the humans didn’t need to know that. In fact, it was better if they didn’t know. Much much better. If humans knew, Jasper knew exactly how they would react. One reaction might be trying to eliminate them all from all over the planet, wanting to feel safe once more. Unfortunately for them, they would be no match for the vampires, especially new-borns and vampires like the Volturi. Another reaction might be to ignore the fact that there might be vampires and other such mythical creatures living in the same town as them. This way they would feel that there was nothing to worry about. No need to panic and such. After all, ignorance is bliss.
Jasper let his mind wander back to his family and how they had gained a new member in the past year or so. He no longer had much recollection of time spans and such, after being alive for 146 years and having forever ahead of him, Jasper often felt that time wasn’t needed. The new member to the Cullen family was Viola – a very nice female vampire who Edward had met. Although Jasper wasn’t too sure on Edward’s feelings towards Viola, he knew well enough to keep things to himself, knowing that Edward was able to get into his mind and thoughts. But Jasper did know that he loved Bella, despite everything that might have been said between Viola and Edward himself. Of course, Viola knew about Bella and what had happened between her and Edward, yet she seemed just as determined that Edward was her mate and such. This seemed slightly peculiar to Jasper, but once again he reminded himself that it had nothing to do with him. That he wasn’t involved in the relationship and that he should stick to things that did concern him.
As Edward mentioned hunting again, Jasper brought his eyes up to meet his adoptive brothers. The smell of fresh blood was still in the air and Jasper knew just as well as Edward did that one deer wasn’t enough to drown his thirst. “I wasn’t sure who else wanted to come. And my thirst was taking over quickly.” A small glint appeared in his eye as he thought of drinking more blood and he knew that this was the reason that Edward was often wary about him. Jasper had been raised as a carnivorous vampire, to drink human blood and had aided his creator Maria in making a new born army. He knew that if he was another vampire he would be wary about himself, not fully trusting him and such, so Jasper wasn’t offended by the slight lack of trust coming from Edward. Thinking back to his past slightly, Jasper was very glad that Alice had found him when she did, taking him to the Cullen’s. Otherwise he might still be a Nomad and roaming around, drinking the blood or humans. Turning him focus back to Edward, Jasper gave a slight nod. “I would like to join you on your hunt.” He replied with a slight smile to him.
Judging from Edward’s face he was leaking into his mind, reading what he was thinking. Jasper used to find this weird and annoying, having never come across anyone who was able to do what Edward could. But now it was just a normal part of life in Jasper’s eyes. Although sometimes he wished that Edward wouldn’t pry in, but Jasper didn’t mind most of the time. Hearing Edward’s words, he knew exactly what he meant and gave a small nod before returning his thoughts to hunting again. “Where do you want to hunt? Here or Olympic National Park?” Jasper asked him, looking around him and noting how peaceful it was here. To him, it made no difference but he knew that some vampires often had preferences to where they hunted.

"I wasn’t sure who else wanted to come. And my thirst was taking over quickly," was Jasper's reply. He just nodded slowly, with a soft sigh. Searching his head with a calm look on his face that may betray him, he wanted to see if that was the truth. Not that he didn't trust Jasper, he surely did, just sometimes he found it necessary and it bugged him all day if he didn't check. He wasn't calling Jasper a liar, after all in the time he had been with the Cullens he hadn't lied to anybody, unless it was a good reason and for the best. Finding no evidence that his statement was a fib, he exited his head briefly, letting his own thoughts take over. Although he was almost always in Jazz's head at a time like this, sometimes he felt bad prying in on others' thoughts. That was just about the only thing people had to themselves, or so they thought, because Edward could easily steal a peek and know their deepest and darkest secret if Edward pried at the right time. At times Edward's power was very handy, but at other times he found things he didn't want to know, and he felt he was stealing others' privacy.
Just as Edward was about to speak, Jasper added, "I would like to join you on my hunt." Surely Edward would be coming, after all he had just offered to join Jasper. Edward didn't know whether Jasper was doing this from courtesy or because he really did want to spend time with Edward. Curious once more, he went into Jazz's head, and didn't exactly find his answer. It didn't matter, Edward was just glad to have been accepted to join Jasper. Hunting alone was no fun. You got awfully lonely, and Edward knew that feeling all too well. Being the odd one out for all those years, everyone having a soul mate except himself; Emmett and Rosalie; Jasper and Alice; and Carlisle and Esme. Nobody for Edward; Tanya had took interest... But Edward hadn't. The Denalis were just good friends. Then Isabella Swan came... why did every thought of his lead to the beautiful brunette? But he had lost her. Then Viola... Edward was still unsure of his thoughts towards her. His heart still belonged to Miss. Swan. He sighed, standing. Right - respond to Jasper. Again, he had almost forgot his presence. "Then let's go," he said with a smile, trying not to show his smugness. Jasper could probably sense it anyway, there was really no sense in trying to hide it.
"Where do you want to hunt? Here or Olympic National Park?" Truthfully it didn't really matter to Edward, there were still no mountain lions at the park. Here and the park had mostly the same animals, nothing really that much different. Interrupting his thoughts on deciding whether to stay or go, a bunny hopped by in front of him. He stared at it proceed in the middle of himself and Jasper. Should he lunge, have it as a snack? Usually the Cullens - or any other vampires - didn't feed on small animals such as a rabbit. They did nothing to help a vampires' thirst, and so it was really a waste stalking one, although they were so easily caught. Still, you shouldn't waste the animals' life. "Hm. Doesn't really matter to me, truthfully. Just for the pleasure of the run, how about we head over to the park?" Edward loved running, not only because he was the fastest in the family. Feeling the wind on his your cold, impenetrable skin... Seeing his hair messed up in the mirror. It was surely a thrill.

’ I will wrap you in my arms ‘
As Edward nodded at his reply, Jasper felt the feeling from him that the slight lack of trust was still lingering in there. He knew that Edward had every reason to feel nervous around him. After all, Jasper was strong for such a young vampire. This was due to how he had been raised as a newborn, working with his creator Maria and training newborns himself. This was a completely different upbringing then his adoptive siblings, something else entirely. Of course, he had only done this for a couple of years before leaving the newborn army with Peter and Charlotte and running free from Maria’s army. A few years after this, was when he had decided to become ‘vegetarian’. He knew that he was able to feel the emotions of the human he was feeding from and it was beginning to be too much for him to handle. In his mind it was easier for him to feed from animals, even if it would take time for him to adjust to his new lifestyle. Luckily he had met Alice in Philadelphia, where she told him that she had been looking for him. Naturally, this had scared him slightly, wondering who this girl was and how she knew who he was. But strangely enough, Jasper had out his trust into her and followed her to the Cullen’s house. Everything was explained there by Alice, and he found himself with a new family and a new place to live. And now he didn’t want to be anywhere else then with the Cullen’s.
Alice was something and someone unique. Jasper never imagined that he would ever meet anyone like her and yet he had. In fact, she had found him from her visions, leading him to a new life. When he had first met her he had to admit that he was wary of going with her. Of course, her story was bizarre and it seemed that she had a power that he had never thought of before. The power to foresee the future. She had told him that he was meant to meet her there and that she had seen it happen. Jasper knew that he had to be defensive around her, but she had a strong feeling of confidence and honesty in her and so he had chosen to trust her and to follow her. And now he had a life that he never imagined he would have. Having heard the other stories of the vampires in the Cullen family, him and Alice seemed to stand out more then the rest of them. Everyone else in the family had been turned by Carlisle, yet they hadn’t. But they still received a welcoming reception and they seemed only slightly wary of the two newcomers. They had turned up and already they seemed like they were together. A couple. In a relationship. It only took a while after their meeting for it to become official. They had only been married legally once, unlike Rosalie and Emmett, who tended to marry every time they moved to a new location.
Focusing back on Edward and his surroundings, Jasper managed a small chuckle as his brother suggested they went on their hunt. From the corner of his eye, the rabbit caught his attention too and the burning sensation returned to his throat. He flickered his eyes towards Edward and noted in his head that Edward was thinking about his thirst too. It was obvious from his eyes, the ones that were almost black in themselves. For both of them, blood was what they wanted and needed right now. Of course, rabbits would have made no difference to his thirst and he would still need to hunt, so Jasper remained standing where he was, attempting at ignoring it as it hopped around nearby. As Edward suggested they headed over to the park, Jasper nodded and gave a small chuckle. He knew how Edward enjoyed running as he was the fasted in the family. He had to admit that he did enjoy the feeling of the wind rushing around him as he ran, giving no care as to what happened. “Alright then. Let’s go,” Jasper replied, grinning to Edward.
